Global Sports Journalism MA

Overview

The Global Sports Journalism MA course is designed to provide students with a sophisticated and comprehensive understanding of the distinct world of multi-media sports journalism and its employment opportunities in related industries. The course aims to develop industry-standard, career-focused practical skills and expertise, enabling students to work collaboratively with other students and colleagues, demonstrating innovative and self-resourcefulness.

Entry Requirements

  • Academic Requirements: Bachelor's degree with minimum Second Class (2:2) in a related field.
  • International Qualifications: We accept a wide range of European and international qualifications in addition to A-levels, the International Baccalaureate, and BTEC qualifications.
  • English Language Requirements: Overall IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in Writing, Speaking, Reading, and Listening (or recognized equivalent).

  • Home Applicant, Part-time: £1,890 per 30 credit module
  • International Applicant, Full-time: £16,140 per year

  • Global Football in Context: Examines the domestic and global contexts in which football operates, including historical, social, economic, political, and cultural factors.
  • Employment and Industry Engagement: Equips students with skills and knowledge to navigate a variety of situations in a busy news environment.
  • Professional Practice and Research Methods (Mental Wealth): Provides academic and professional competencies necessary for successful study at postgraduate level.
  • Final Project: Supports students in the production of an independent, Masters-level written research project or film and media production project.
  • Broadcast Journalism: Equips students with essential skills necessary to work as a journalist in a television or radio newsroom.
  • Global Communication and Development: Examines the relationships between communications and international systems, including the role of communications in national development.
  • Media and Marketing Communications: Explores the changing relationships between advertising, public relations, media, and other environments where promotional communications occur.
  • Investigating Media and Communication Industries: Examines the media and creative industries, including their organization, institutional arrangements, media forms, products, and services.
