Program Overview

A Canadian High School Experience in the Winter

Braemar College’s Winter Program is designed for international students, generally ages 13 to 19, who are interested in having a short-term Canadian high school experience from the latter part of November to the end of January.

This is a non-credit program in which students take two high school courses, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Classes run from 915 AM to 345 PM

All English levels welcome

We have an English placement test, but all levels of English are available, from all day ESL courses for absolute beginners to courses for students ready to tackle Shakespeare and Mary Shelley. We also offer a wide range of courses in math, drama, science, business and the arts. All our courses are based on the Ontario Secondary School Curriculum.

Accommodation

Winter program students stay with one of our Canadian homestay families. Homestays provide students with three daily meals, private furnished room, and internet.

This placement process begins with students providing our homestay department with detailed information about the kind of homestay they would like, as well as any dietary considerations or allergies or other health concerns our families should know about. Depending on demand, we are usually able to provide students with two or three suitable families to choose from before they travel to Canada.

Activities

All Braemar College students, as valued members of the Braemar community, and at no extra cost, are warmly invited to take part in a range of club and after school activities. During the two-week winter holiday, the school will arrange some student activities.
