Remote Student Support

Courses designed specifically for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students include intensive blocks of training on campus known as residential blocks. Funding support is available for students who need to travel away from their communities to cover necessities like travel, accommodation, and meals.

Selection Criteria

Students must be Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students as this training product has been developed specifically for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in support of equity policy for post compulsory education. Current employment in the industry is preferred but not essential.

Resources Required

It is recommended that you have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Important Information

The program is delivered over 12 months, study is flexible so students can work at their own pace within that period. Support will be provided by email and phone. It is highly recommended that students attend scheduled face to face residential blocks training offered in Cairns.

Assessment Methods

Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
