Certificate III in Outside School Hours Care
Course Overview
This course reflects the role of educators in school age education and care/Outside School Hours Care who work according to the requirements of the National Quality Framework. They support children’s wellbeing and development in the context of an approved learning framework. They develop and implement play and leisure experiences with or without supervision. Educators in this context work in outside school hours care and vacation care (also known as School Age Care).

What You Will Study
The successful achievement of this qualification requires you to complete all core and 3 elective units from the list below. You will also be required to undertake 320 hours of vocational placement in an approved setting.

Ways to Study

Payment Options
- Payment plan: If you have difficulty paying for the full cost of a course upfront, you may be eligible for a payment plan.
- Upfront payment: This may be the full fee for the course, or the student contribution amount if you are eligible for a subsidy or concession.
Resources Required
You must have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Placement
A total of at least 320 hours of work with school age children in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia is required.
Important Information
- Order of Study: When studying Online self-directed it is strongly recommended students follow the order of study and enrol in no more than two units per intake or the units required to complete one cluster/stage, unless otherwise advised.
- Assessment methods: Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
