- Strengthen your potential for a career in the sports industry with this dual qualification, delivered in partnership with peak sporting organisations and TAFE Queensland.
- According to the Australian Government's labour markets insights Service there is strong future growth predicted for this industry with increasing demand for qualified sports coaches, instructors and officials with over 44,000 positions expected by 2026.
- In this qualification you'll cover coaching fundamentals including how to plan and deliver coaching programs for high-performing athletes, apply sport psychology principles, and coordinate health and wellness programs.
- In addition, you'll develop essential sports industry skills including managing risk, leading and managing people, and maintaining workplace health and safety.
- Taking your skills to the next level, you'll also be mentored in team leadership and management, discover how to utilise emotional intelligence to maximise outcomes, and learn how to develop and implement effective projects and business operational plans.

Academy of Sport

- Networking opportunities with staff at the relevant industry partner’s organisation.
- Location and timetable:
- Face-to-face classes for 2 days a week are held at the industry partners’ headquarters.
- Virtual classes or self-directed time for approximately 6 hours per week.
- Prep reading and assessment completion for approximately 8 hours per week.
Assessment Methods
- Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course.
- You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
