    • Unit description: This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to draw the layout of services for Class 1 and 10 buildings, as defined by the National Construction Code (NCC). It includes reviewing project documentation, identifying the services required to comply with building regulations, codes and standards and drawing layouts for stormwater, sewerage, water supply, electrical and gas services.

    • UNIT NAME: Research architectural styles and movements
    • Unit description: This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to research architectural styles and movements and identify and analyse how they influence design projects. It includes documenting findings and information as reference materials for use in design projects.

    • UNIT NAME: Set up BIM capable software and files for building design drafting projects
    • Unit description: This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to set up digital project files in building information modelling (BIM) capable industry standard building design drawing software for residential, commercial and industrial building design projects as defined in the National Construction Code (NCC). It covers installing BIM-capable design software and applying its functions and options to create, name and save project files and templates for different types of building design projects.

    • English Language Proficiency: Academic IELTS 6.0 (no individual band less than 5.5) or equivalent
    • Academic Requirements: Completion of Year 12 (or equivalent)

Important Information

  • Greater Brisbane - on campus and online: All units of competency are delivered on campus with some online with the exception of CPCWHS1001.
  • CPCWHS1001 can be completed on campus through TAFE Queensland SSCPC0029 General Construction Induction Training (GCIT) Skill Set.
  • Students may also opt to undertake this unit via an alternative RTO in their local area and can seek a credit transfer upon successful completion.

Assessment Methods

Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
