Course Overview

Establish a career in flooring with this entry-level qualification. This course is designed to provide you with the practical skills to get your career started. It has multiple specialities available to help you tailor your career as a floor finisher.


According to the Australian Government's Job Outlook service, the number of people working as floor finishers is expected to grow in the coming years.


Our highly qualified and experienced teaching team will guide you through your core units including how to receive and prepare floor covering materials, handle dangerous goods/hazardous substances, read and interpret work documents, and plan and cost flooring technology work. You can further specialise in many areas like timber, carpet, concrete or resilient.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.


Resources Required

You are responsible for meeting the minimum occupational health and safety requirements in practical classes. This includes the use of:


  • Safety glasses
  • Protective footwear with safety toe cap and non-slip soles to AS2210
  • Long leather gloves to AS2161
  • Hair protection
  • Ear muffs or ear plugs
  • Disposable dust masks
  • You should also wear 100% cotton drill industry-standard clothing.
