Program Description
Medicine at EUC attracts students who are academically motivated, truly passionate about science and determined to improve the health of the world’s people through state-of-the-art practice, research and innovation. You will experience a global medical education with an international student body, benefit from a highly engaged faculty with Nobel laureates among your professors, and develop essential skills through clinical practice from the first year to excel in the art of healing.
Our rigorous, competency-based curriculum trains students in the best practices in patient care using innovative teaching strategies, advanced simulation and clinical skills training. EUC has exclusive agreements with the largest public and private hospitals in Cyprus for the students’ core clinical rotations. Summer externships in 10 countries provide experiential learning in a range of disciplines. Academic, clinical and career advising helps our medical students achieve the most out of their medical training and become inspired doctors and leaders in the medical profession.
Accreditation and Recognition
- Accreditation by WFME: EUC School of Medicine was accredited through the rigorous standards and procedures of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME), ensuring the highest scientific and ethical standards in medical education.
- ECFMG Eligibility for Medical Graduates: EUC School of Medicine meets all requirements for Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) Certification required to study or work in the United States or Canada.
- US Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE): The School of Medicine has been approved by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). With this approval, students and graduates of the EUC School of Medicine can apply to ECFMG to take the US Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) for medical licensure in the US.
Clinical Rotations and Summer Externships
- Clinical Rotations: Students do their clinical rotations in public and private hospitals all over Cyprus, most notably at the German Medical Institute, the American Medical Center, and the Mediterranean Hospital in Cyprus, IASO General Hospital, the European Interbalkan Medical Center in Thessaloniki and Athens Medical Center in Greece, Bergen New Bridge Medical Center and Larkin Hospital in USA, and St Elizabethen Hospital and the Frankfurt Red Cross Hospital in Germany, among others.
- Summer Externships: The School of Medicine has established an international network for summer externships for practical training (clinical and research) of its students with renowned hospitals and universities abroad including Shriners Hospitals for Children (USA), Imperial College London (UK), Barts of the London School of Medicine (UK), Weizmann Institute of Science (Israel) and Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Israel) in the Laboratory of Ada Yonath, Nobel Laureate and Honorary Professor of the EUC School of Medicine.
Foundation Program
The Foundation Program for Medicine is a semester-based, full-time online program for students wishing to prepare for the MD degree programs at EUC. The program is suitable for prospective students who do not meet admission criteria, who want to build on knowledge in basic sciences necessary for these degree programs, or who seek to gain a competitive advantage in their Medical School application. The Foundation Entry Program for Medical School is available every Spring Semester, running from February to mid-June.
