Overview
The PhD in Public Health trains candidates in a broad range of disciplines (medicine, healthcare, biological, environmental and social sciences) to be independent scholars and researchers in the field. At the core of this interdisciplinary program, students receive training in Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Research Methodology. Through taught courses and guest lecture series, high-priority public health issues will be explored including climate change, pandemic response and preparedness, tackling health misinformation, lifestyle and chronic disease epidemiology, reproductive epidemiology and women’s health, active and healthy ageing, and population health intelligence (Precision Public Health). Graduates will be able to provide effective public health service or scholarly support at a national and/or international level.

General Information for Doctoral Studies
- European University Cyprus announces every academic year a limited number of places for doctoral studies in both Fall and Spring Semester (commencing October and February, respectively). Applications are submitted using the application form. All necessary supporting material accompanying the application are described in the application form.
- The final selection is based on assessment of the applicant’s qualifications and personal interview(s).
Admission Criteria
- The applicant must have a Master’s degree in an area of Health Sciences or related fields and/or extended relevant formal education, e.g. Medical Degree (M.D.).
- The applicant must have a strong academic record with a Grade Point Average (GPA) in the Master’s (or equivalent education) of B or higher, in accordance with EUC’s grading system.
- The Ph.D. Academic Programme of Study Committee assesses applicants on the basis of their academic record, other relevant qualifications, as well as their statement of research interests and description of possible areas of research. Subsequently, the Committee invites short-listed candidates to an interview.
- The Committee, after examining the content/discipline of the applicants’ previous academic studies, reserves the right to request from any applicant accepted to the program to take specified postgraduate courses and/or pass specified appraisals prior to admission.
- The applicants must demonstrate excellent knowledge of the language in which the programme will be carried out, and a very good knowledge of a second language according to criteria set by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
