Program Description

PhD graduates in Psychology will be able to demonstrate high level research skills to make a significant contribution to the various fields of psychology both in Cyprus and overseas.


The Ph.D. in Psychology is a program of study that provides the opportunity to candidates to carry out research in a field of Psychology, choosing among Clinical, Counseling, Developmental, Neuropsychology, School and Social Psychology.


The ultimate goal is to train early stage researchers to become independent and to be able to carry out rigorous research in their chosen field of interest.


Successful candidates will be expected to work in universities and research institutes and organisations in Cyprus and abroad or to establish their own practice.

General Information for Doctoral Studies

European University Cyprus announces every academic year a limited number of places for doctoral studies in both Fall and Spring Semester (commencing October and February, respectively). Applications are submitted using the application form. All necessary supporting material accompanying the application are described in the application form.


Last Day for Submitting Applications

  • For EU Applicants:
    • For Fall Semester: Initial deadline: 15 June per year (if positions remain available, additional applications for these positions are accepted by 15 September per year)
    • For Spring Semester: 15 January per year
  • For Non-EU Applicants (Due to visa requirements):
    • For Fall Semester: 15 June per year
    • For Spring Semester: 1 December per year

Call for Submission of Application for Doctoral Studies

The Ph.D. program in Psychology of the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences, announces a limited number of places for doctoral studies every year, choosing among but not limited to Neuropsychology, Clinical, Counselling, Developmental, School, Health, and Social Psychology as well as Research Methods in Psychology.


Application, Supporting Material and Admission Procedure

  2. Interested applicants are expected to submit a research proposal with their application.
  3. The application is submitted using the application form
  4. The necessary supporting material accompanying the application are described in the application form.
  5. The final selection is based on assessment of the applicant’s qualifications and personal interview(s).
