Diploma in Hotel Management

Programme Overview

The program, Diploma in Hotel Management prepares the students for a rewarding career in the hotel industry. It comprises sound theory and craft-based learning (practical classes) with professional internships within the industry. It aims at providing students with the appropriate operational skills for rooms division, reception services, food and beverage service management as well as food production and also focuses on the development of a professional attitude for a career in the hotel industry. After completion of the Hotel Management Diploma, students can either continue their studies to complete the bachelor degree or they can start their professional career at this stage.

Entry Requirements

  • Passed the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) / Vocational Education Certificate (SPMV) with at least three credits in three subjects; or
  • Passed Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least a B grade in 3 subjects; or
  • Passing O-Level with at least Grade C in 3 subjects; or
  • Passed the Malaysian High School Certificate (STPM) or equivalent with minimum grade C (NGMP 2.0) in any subject; or
  • Passed STAM (rank Maqbool); or
  • Graduated Community College Certificate MQF equivalent to level 3 in a related field; and
    • a. Passed SPM with at least a credit in one subject; and
    • b. Through consolidation program (if necessary); or
  • Pass the Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) Level 3 in a relevant field; and
    • a. Passed SPM with at least a credit in one subject; and
    • b. Through consolidation program (if necessary); or
  • Graduate Certificate in a related field (MQF Level 3) with a minimum CGPA of 2.0; or
  • Other qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government.

English Requirements

International students must have proof of good proficiency in verbal and written English. For example, International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 4.0 or its equivalent. If a student does not meet this requirement, HEPS must offer English proficiency courses to ensure that the student’s proficiency is sufficient to meet the needs of the programme.
