The Accounting Cert HE course is a 1-year program that provides an introduction to core accounting and finance topics. It is equivalent to the first year of a degree and is designed to give students a solid start in accounting.

Course Introduction

The Accounting Cert HE course covers the contemporary business environment, financial and management accounting, financial reporting, and law and regulations. Students will develop skills in financial reporting and learn how to use industry-standard accounting information systems.

• 4 x 6-week blocks
• 1 subject module per block
• 4 CPD focus days per block
• 250 hours of study per module
• 80 hrs face-to-face (32%)
• 20 hrs Digital Wednesdays (8%)
• 150 hrs independent study (60%)

Assessment Breakdown

• No traditional end-of-year exams
• Accounting and finance students will be required to sit some exams in order to achieve the required exemptions.

• Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA): 9 exemptions
• Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA): 8 exemptions
• Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA): 12 exemptions
• Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT): additional professional qualification
• Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW): 6 exemptions

• Each application is assessed on an individual basis, taking into consideration a wide range of factors.
• Depending on your personal circumstances, and in line with our Contextual Admissions Policy, your application may still be considered if you have less than 104 UCAS Points.
