Course Descriptions

SUST 602. Sustainability and the Natural Environment

  • Units: 3
  • Prerequisite(s): Consent of instructor
  • Description: This course will focus on the sustainability of natural systems including populations, freshwater, soil, and air. Required for students in the MA or MS in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Concentration in Sustainability.

SUST 649. Internship Sustainability

  • Units: 1-3
  • Prerequisite(s): Consent of program director
  • Description: Course that provides practical, workplace or research experience for students in either the Master of Arts or Sciences in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Concentration in Sustainability.

SUST 650. Sustainability Seminar

  • Units: 1
  • Prerequisite(s): Consent of program director
  • Description: Seminar course with presentations by invited guests and students enrolled in the Master of Arts or Master of Science in interdisciplinary Studies, concentration in Sustainability program.
  • Note: Course is repeated until Master's Candidacy.

SUST 703. Land and Ecosystem Conservation

  • Units: 1-3
  • Term Typically Offered: Fall Only
  • Prerequisite(s): Consent of Instructor and Director
  • Description: A study of issues and methods concerning the conservation of ecosystems (e.g., prairies) sensitive lands (e.g., farmland, historic areas, national parks). Issues of sustainability will receive particular attention. May be offered as a seminar.
