Course Descriptions

ENTR 350. Entrepreneurial Opportunities

• Term Typically Offered: Fall, Spring
• Fee: An additional $30.00 is charged for this course.
• Description: This course helps students learn how to identify problems or pains, generate ideas for addressing those pains in ways that may be profitable, and then validating those ideas with potential customers. It is highly interactive and research based.

ENTR 370. The Entrepreneurial Process

• Term Typically Offered: Fall, Spring
• Fee: An additional $30.00 is charged for this course.
• Description: This course provides an exploration of the role of entrepreneurs in society. Students work in teams to assess opportunities, develop strategies, and create business models. Throughout the semester, we will cover concepts to and appreciate the complexities of launching sustainable ventures.

ENTR 402. Venture Finance

• Term Typically Offered: Fall Only
• Fee: An additional $30.00 is charged for this course.
• Description: Focus on efficiently and effectively allocating resources for implementing the venture. This course covers financial planning for ventures, forecasting funding requirements, and how to divide equity with investors.

ENTR 403. Venture Planning and Management

• Term Typically Offered: Spring Only
• Prerequisite(s): ENTR 350; ENTR 370; ENTR 402.
• Fee: An additional $30.00 is charged for this course.
• Description: Launching and growing the venture with directed mentoring experience.
• Course Attribute(s): CBL - This course includes Community-Based Learning (CBL). Students will engage in a community experience or project with an external partner in order to enhance understanding and application of academic content.

ENTR 404. Social Entrepreneurship

• Term Typically Offered: Spring Only
• Fee: An additional $45.00 is charged for this course.
• Description: Prerequisites or corequisites: ENTR 350. This course will examine the theory and practice of creating businesses that have the dual purpose of pursuing social missions as well as making a profit. Social missions include having a positive impact on the natural environment, justice for disadvantaged populations, integrating differentially-abled or convicted persons into society, health and wellness for individuals and populations, or many other objectives as well. These firms face many challenges from their dual purposes, but also claim benefits related to employee meaningfulness, innovation, and reputation. This class will provide a practical exploration of these issues.

ENTR 499. Independent Study in Entrepreneurship

• Term Typically Offered: Fall Only
• Prerequisite(s): ENTR 401 and ENTR 402.
• Fee: An additional $45.00 is charged for this course.
• Description: A variety of contemporary topics in Entrepreneurship will be studied. Course content may vary but will not duplicate other course offerings.
