Overview
The Introduction to the Hospitality Industry (Award) is a Level 1 course designed for individuals aged 19+ who are passionate about cooking and want to develop their skills in the hospitality industry. The course is taught by highly-skilled and experienced chef lecturers and is accredited by University College Birmingham.

Course Breakdown
- Topics you will study:
- Basic food preparation and cooking
- Preparing and serving drinks
- Introduction to pastry and cake preparation and cooking methods
- Food safety in catering
- Maths and English:
- You will also continue developing your maths and English skills alongside your full-time course.
- If you haven’t achieved GCSE grade 4/C in English and maths at age 16, you will continue to study these through resits or taking Functional Skills at an appropriate level.
Entry Requirements
- Academic requirements:
- A minimum of 2 GCSEs at grade 2 or above
- Other requirements:
- Enthusiasm and passion for cooking, together with a keen determination to succeed in the hospitality industry

- Complete this course and you could progress onto our Level 2 and 3 Chef Cookery course and then onto our Professional Chef or Culinary Arts Management degree.
