Gain Avid Pro Tools certification in this 2-week intensive course delivered by our Avid-certified instructors at the School of Film and Television. This course includes two foundational modules: Pro Tools Fundamentals I (PT101) and Pro Tools Fundamentals II (PT110), together with the associated certification exam at the end of the course.

Course Outline
Week 1: Avid Pro Tools Fundamentals I
- Create a Pro Tools session document or cloud-enabled project with appropriate parameter settings
- Accomplish common audio production tasks
- Employ navigation and editing skills in a multi-track Pro Tools document
- Incorporate proper recording and mixing techniques for audio and MIDI files in the Pro Tools environment
- Analyze and interpret session file structures
- Recognize and navigate the user interface and tool set
Week 2: Avid Pro Tools Fundamentals II
- Manage large track counts and multiple channels of simultaneous inputs and outputs
- Create appropriate Pro Tools software and hardware settings
- Select appropriate settings in the Playback Engine dialog
- Set up and modify input/output (I/O) settings
- Assess and integrate virtual instruments and specialized plugins for specific music and post-production tasks
- Utilize advanced recording techniques to capture multiple record takes in succession
- Analyze Elastic Audio processors and methods to select appropriate options
- Utilize Elastic Audio techniques MIDI Real-Time Properties to achieve desired tempo and/or rhythmic effects and outcomes
- Apply clip-based editing techniques to audio and MIDI tracks
- Incorporate automated mixing techniques into a Pro Tools workflow for selective during a session post-production tasks automation
How You'll Learn
You'll learn via hands-on exercises each day, giving you the opportunity to work on real-world film and video examples. This course is taught in person in our professional-standard facilities at the School of Film and Television by our Avid-certified educators and supported by our technical staff, so there's always someone to help you with individual queries.
Who is This Course For?
This course is designed for anyone looking to gain Avid Pro Tools certification – whether that's prior to further study, going into industry, career progression, or just for interest. We do ask that you have a basic understanding of recording techniques and equipment, and familiarity with Mac computers. No prior Avid experience is required.

Hello! I am a technician at Falmouth University, and primarily teach workshops on audio location recording, alongside postproduction edit and audio workflows. I was a student at Falmouth University, and I am now able to teach forward the experience I have gained. This is my second time supporting on the Avid Pro Tools 100 course with Andy and I'm excited for us to expand our delivery to outside our own student membership.
What to Expect
An intensive 2-weeks studying a module per week, from 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday on both weeks, with exams to gain Avid Pro Tools certification at the end of the course.
- Arrival: From 8.45am (welcome, refreshments, and a discussion of the day ahead)
- Teaching starts: 9am each day
- Teaching ends: 5pm each day
What to Bring
- Please ensure that you bring a laptop or tablet which can run Adobe Digital Editions so that you can open the Avid course e-book alongside your iMac in our facilities, as the workflow windows we'll be using on this course will utilise the two screens available on each iMac.
- You'll also need to set up your personal Avid account prior to the course (we provide full instructions) and you need to ensure that you have accessed and tested the course e-books before the course begins to avoid a delay being able to follow along with the exercises.
- Please remember to bring a packed lunch with you, or visit one of our on-campus café's. Tea and coffee will be provided each day. You may wish to bring a reusable water bottle with you.

- Individual workstations in our Post-Production Hub with 2 screens (needed for the workflows we'll be using).
- Official Avid course e-book for each module (please note this is in electronic format, not printed)
- PT101 and PT110 exams and certification at the end of the course
- Tea/coffee each day
Food and Drink
Tea/coffee is included, with all diets catered for. Please note: lunch is not included in the course cost, we recommend bringing a packed lunch or visiting one of our on-campus cafés.

Certificates and Digital Badges
This course includes exams at the end of the course, with 1 retake included if required. Students who pass the exam will gain Avid Certified User for Pro Tools certification.
Eligibility and Prerequisites
You need to be familiar with a Mac and have basic audio recording knowledge - such as a familiarity with microphones, and some knowledge of basic digital audio equipment. You do not need any prior Avid experience.
