Course Details
This hands-on, one-day course is designed to foster creativity and promote resourceful techniques. You'll explore a more sustainable approach to fashion and textiles, learning through a mix of practical demonstrations and guided activities.
Morning Session
- Dive into T-shirt customisation, mastering techniques like screen printing and creative garment alteration.
- Experiment with bold designs, striking patterns, and vibrant colours to transform a basic tee into something completely unique.
Afternoon Session
- Build on your new skills, designing and creating personalised patches using sustainable garment vinyl.
- Discover how small changes can make a big impact on your style.
Course Outcomes
- Design and produce custom textile patches using sustainable materials.
- Apply alteration and screen printing techniques to create a personalised, wearable T-shirt.
- Rework T-Shirts into stylish, upcycled pieces of wearable art that demonstrate creative problem-solving and sustainable design practices.

Staff
This one-day course is run by experienced Falmouth University staff from our Fashion & Textiles team. All staff teaching this course have enhanced DBS clearance and have undergone our mandatory safeguarding training.
How You'll Learn
This is a practical course where you'll learn through a mix of practical demonstrations and guided activities, with plenty of time to experiment and try out new techniques.
Who is This Course For
Designed for 14–17-year-olds of all experience levels, this course is perfect for young creatives interested in fashion and textiles and eager to explore sustainable approaches.
What to Expect
Expect a hands-on and practical day, where you will combine learning new skills with developing your creative ideas. You'll be encouraged to think about style and sustainability, to promote resourceful approaches to our fashion and textiles industry.
What to Bring
- Closed-toe shoes or trainers
- Clothes that you don’t mind getting messy
- Long hair tied back
- A reusable water bottle (optional)

- All materials you'll need for the day
- Refreshments and lunch (all dietary requirements catered for)
Location
This course is taught in our fantastic Fashion & Textiles facilities on our Penryn campus.
Certificates
You will leave with a certificate of completion, available when you finish the day and sign out.
Eligibility
This course is for 14 – 17 year olds only, and is suitable for all experience levels with no pre-requisite knowledge required.
Drop-off & Pick-up
A parent or guardian must sign 14 and 15 year olds in and out, and be present for drop off and pick up. If 16 and 17 year olds wish to sign themselves in and out then we will require written consent emailed to us in advance of the course.

Once you have booked your place you’ll be sent a participant form for further information. You can tell us about any dietary, medical, or access requirements that we need to know about on this form and you’ll also be asked to confirm that you agree to our code of conduct for under 18s, as well as confirming the t-shirt size you would like to make.
