Music Production & Vocal Performance Award
Overview
The Music Production & Vocal Performance Award is for vocalists - from opera singers to hip-hop artists - looking to produce their own music and get the best from their vocal and performance skills. After completing this course you’ll have a fundamental understanding of how to create tracks, record your own vocals and perform them live like a pro. Our expert lecturers have worked with the likes of Pharrell Williams, Gwen Stefani and Rihanna, so you know you’ll be in good hands!

- Phil Ramocon: Ivor Novello & Grammy-winning musician/songwriter. Legend who's worked with Steve Winwood, Jamelia, Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff and more. Co-wrote 'Buffalo Stance' with Neneh Cherry.
- Carroll Thompson: Iconic British reggae singer who's also recorded with Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Sade & more. Signed to Virgin as solo artist. Scored several Top 40 hits & No.1 on UK Reggae Chart with 'I'm So Sorry'.
- Alex Wood: Programme Leader. Alex is a conservatoire (RCM) trained musician having played professionally in orchestras, pit bands and string quartets. As a sound engineer he’s recorded and mixed everything from orchestras to heavy metal and musicals to drum & bass. He’s performed his plunderphonic sonic art compositions in the London Palladium, BEAST, Spitalfields festival & Sonic Futures amongst others.

FAQ
- I am an International Student. How do I apply?: For courses longer than 6 months, you will be required to apply for a Student Visa. pointblank is able to sponsor you on a Student Visa for degree programmes. Please refer to our International Student Guidance section for more information on the application process. For courses of 6 months or less, you may need to apply for a Standard Visitor Visa.
- Do I need to buy software & equipment to take the course?: Depending on your programme, certain hardware and software will be essential throughout your studies. To help with your independent learning and assessment work, you will need to have access to this equipment outside of the campus. However, if you are able to attend classes on campus, this equipment will be available to use either in class or by booking practice time.
- What is my weekly study schedule?: Each module requires your attendance at one class which will be 3 or 4 hours long depending on the module. You will also have two 30-minute tutorials with your lecturer per module per term for additional support. Your timetable will be confirmed a week before the start of each term. In addition to your classes, you are expected to schedule sufficient independent study and practice time each week.
- Can I take the course and work at the same time?: This is a full-time course and you should undertake at least 10 hours of study per module per week. This time includes classes, studio bookings, 1-2-1 tutorials and independent study. You can work whilst taking the course, however, we recommend you commit to working no more than 15 hours per week.
