CertHE Music Business
Overview
This course is the first year of the BA (Hons) Music Business degree. It is designed for students who wish to progress onto the rest of the degree, secure employment in any area of the music industry, or develop their own business using the entrepreneurial skills and industry knowledge gained on the course.

- Lee Erimnez: Co-founded 2AR Music for artist management & consultancy. Bassist/manager for Snuff since 1996. Producer for BBC Radio 1 including Zane Lowe, Annie Mac, Gilles Peterson, Fabio & Grooverider, and more.
- Jen Anderson: A&R for Universal-owned Fiction Records, Label Manager for King Tuts Recordings, Promoter for Live Nation-owned DF Concerts, Head of Business Affairs for Back Yard Music and Tour Manager, and now runs her own business The Bothy Society.
- Chris Parles: A&R Manager for 3 major record labels including Virgin (EMI), Mercury Records (Universal) and Sony music; signing and working with artists such as Blue, Atomic Kitten, Robert Plant, Natalie Imbruglia and Lulu.

Assessment
- Formative exercises: designed to provide feedback on your work and help you improve.
- Summative assignments: designed to both assess your existing knowledge, and deepen your learning. They often simulate real industry scenarios, providing valuable experience with professional briefs.
Study Schedule
- Each module requires your attendance at one daytime class which will be 3 or 4 hours long depending on the module.
- 3-hour classes will also have an additional 1-hour virtual seminar each week.
- You will also have two 30-minute tutorials with your lecturer per module per term for additional support.
- Your timetable will be confirmed a week before the start of each term.
- In addition to your classes and seminars, you are expected to schedule sufficient independent study and practice time each week.

Entry Requirements
- First and foremost, we are looking for people who can demonstrate a) their passion for music and b) an ability to successfully complete a Higher Education programme.
- Where conditional offers are made, typical offers will be set from:
- A Level: CC
- BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma: MPP/MM
- We also accept T Levels and do consider a wide range of Level 3 and comparable international qualifications.
- If you do not have formal qualifications, don't worry, you may still be considered on the strength of relevant prior learning and experience.
