Program Overview

Learn to perform like a professional guitarist with our 6-month Guitar Award program. You’ll be taught in small groups to maximize your learning potential in two college-level courses, Guitar Skills - Level 1 and Level 2. As a graduate you’ll come away with the power to deliver incredible guitar performances on stage or in a studio and you'll join a global alumni community with the likes of pointblank London graduate and X-Factor winner Leona Lewis. Learn from professional guitarists in groups of just 10 students or less and get the benefit of focused guitar instruction.

FAQ

  • Are there any admission requirements? Admission into any college-level program at pointblank requires that the prospective student:
    • Be 18 years of age or older (under age 18 may be accepted only with signed parental consent)
    • Possess a high school diploma or the equivalent
    • Be provided a current pointblank Music School Catalog
    • Sign a School Performance Fact Sheetand an Enrollment Agreementfor their program
  • What equipment do I need to take this program? A guitar and a capo are required to take this program. An acoustic guitar (nylon- or steel-string) is recommended and preferable; electric guitars are also acceptable, but acoustic guitars are preferred. All other equipment you need will be provided on campus. If you decide to buy additional equipment, we will be happy to facilitate student discounts for you with leading industry partners.
  • When are the classes scheduled? For each 10-week course in musicianship, piano, guitar, or bass, classes normally meet once per week for 2 hours on a weekday in one of the following timeslots:
    • 10:00am – 12:00pm (Morning Session)
    • 12:00pm – 2:00pm (Noon Session)
    • 2:30pm – 4:30pm (Afternoon Session)
    Class schedules are confirmed and released two weeks prior to the start of each quarter. Please call for the most up-to-date information on scheduling and class availability. Our facilities are also open for student use from six to seven days a week, giving you valuable time in the studio to practice your musicianship or instrumental exercises and reinforce your new skills outside of class sessions.
  • Do you provide student housing? Our students have many options for housing accommodations near pointblank Los Angeles. Please visit our Student Accommodation page or Contact an Admissions Advisor for more info.
  • I work full time. Can I enroll? Yes. Classes are usually available in the evening and on weekends, and we will be happy to arrange a class schedule that works around your other professional commitments. Please check with an Admissions Advisor to see what scheduling options are available by calling or by completing the Contact Us form.
  • I'm an international student. Can I enroll? International students have different options for attending pointblank classes depending on their country of origin. These include the B2 visitor visa, the ESTA visa waiver program, and more. We do not offer F or M student visas at this time.
