Overview
The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program at the University of Indianapolis is designed to prepare advanced practice nurses for leadership roles in healthcare. The program offers four pathways: Post-Master's DNP, Executive DNP, DNP Clinical Expert Track, and BSN to DNP.
Pathways
- Post-Master's DNP: For nurses with a Master's degree in Nursing (MSN).
- Executive DNP: For BSN nurses with a Master's degree in any subject matter.
- DNP Clinical Expert Track: For Advanced Practice Providers with national certification as an APRN – Nurse Practitioners or Clinical Nurse Specialists.
- BSN to DNP: For BSN-prepared RNs who want to achieve initial national certification and state licensure in an APRN role with a patient population focus.
Program Details
- Duration: The program can be completed in as little as six terms.
- Format: Online coursework with visits to campus each semester.
- Scholarly Project: Students apply their learning with an evidence-based scholarly project, allowing them to make a difference in their work as part of their degree.
Alumni Spotlight
Erin LaCross, a UIndy DNP alum, is Parkview's Chief Nursing Officer. Her project focused on nurse manager succession planning, and she created a pilot program at Parkview, leading 12 nurses through a leadership institute.
Admission Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree: Required for the University of Indianapolis online nursing program.
- Active RN License: Required for admission to this program.
