Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Administration & Leadership
Mission
The Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Administration & Leadership (HCAL) program is designed to meet the needs of professionals who have an interest in working as a leader in an administrative setting of a healthcare facility, or those who may currently work in healthcare but would like to increase or formalize their knowledge.
Learning Outcomes
- Students will be able to utilize business and regulatory knowledge essential to working in the complex healthcare field.
- Students will be able to critically appraise evidence and propose solutions for contemporary challenges in healthcare management.
- Students will be able to develop leadership skills necessary in healthcare operations and organizations.
Program Length & Format
A self-paced program allows students to have flexibility in scheduling. The program can be completed within three semesters, but you have up to three years to complete all your courses.
Curriculum
The Graduate Certificate in HCAL curriculum has 12 credit hours and no on-campus requirements.

Admissions Requirements
Programs within the Interprofessional Health and Aging Studies Department utilize a holistic approach to applicant review. We consider all aspects of the application, not just academic history.
- A completed online application and $25 application fee
- A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution
- Official transcripts for all colleges/universities attended, demonstrating a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher. For any applicant who already has a master's degree, we only require official transcripts from institutions in which a degree was earned.
- Resume or curriculum vitae
- A personal statement detailing your interest in the program and your career goals.
Additional Requirements for International Applicants
Start Dates
Students may begin the certificate program at the start of any semester: Fall, Winter, or Summer.
- August Start: The application deadline is August 1
- January Start: The application deadline is December 1
- May Start: The application deadline is April 1
