Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Program
Overview
The University of Indianapolis offers a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program designed to prepare students for advanced practice roles in nursing. The program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and is available in various tracks, including Adult Gerontological Nurse Practitioner/Primary Care, Family Nurse Practitioner, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Nursing & Health Systems Leadership, and Nursing Education.
Tracks
MSN Adult Gerontological Nurse Practitioner/Primary Care
This track prepares students to provide primary care to adults and older adults. The program includes coursework in advanced health assessment, pharmacology, and pathophysiology, as well as clinical experiences in primary care settings.
MSN Family Nurse Practitioner
This track prepares students to provide primary care to individuals and families across the lifespan. The program includes coursework in advanced health assessment, pharmacology, and pathophysiology, as well as clinical experiences in primary care settings.
MSN Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
This track prepares students to provide care to newborns and infants. The program includes coursework in advanced health assessment, pharmacology, and pathophysiology, as well as clinical experiences in neonatal intensive care units.
MSN Nursing & Health Systems Leadership
This track prepares students for leadership roles in nursing and healthcare. The program includes coursework in healthcare policy, finance, and management, as well as clinical experiences in leadership settings.
MSN Nursing Education
This track prepares students to teach nursing students in academic settings. The program includes coursework in curriculum development, instructional design, and evaluation, as well as clinical experiences in teaching.
Admission Requirements
- BSN degree from an accredited institution
- Unencumbered RN license
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Prerequisite courses in statistics and research

- Fees each semester (General Services Fee, Nursing Fee)
- Prior to starting classes (background check, drug test, immunizations)
- Shadow Health (approximately $130)
- Travel expenses to Indianapolis (only through Fall 2025)

Technology Requirements
- Students will be required to have technology that is compatible with the required computerized testing platform software.
- A computer that meets ExamSoft/Examplify expectations is required.
