About the Information Technology Bachelor’s Degree
The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology at Fisher College is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education that combines technical expertise with essential interpersonal and analytical skills. Our program offers a robust curriculum built around core computer science concepts, enhanced by specialized concentrations to ensure that graduates are well-prepared for dynamic careers in the IT field, such as Systems and Security Analyst, Network and System Administrator, and Software Developer and Programmer.
At Fisher College, we make use of and build on the liberal arts foundation to develop students who have strong analytical skills, and who can think, write, and communicate clearly and effectively. Graduates will be able to combine the applied technical skill learned with an interpersonal/cross-cultural understanding of the diverse global environment in which we live, thus be prepared for their professional careers.
Students gain hands-on experience through programming projects, technical labs, and real-world simulations. Our curriculum continually builds on students' understanding of hardware and software systems, enhancing their technical skills in every course. The program encourages active learning and the application of computer science theory, with opportunities for experiential learning through team presentations, lab simulations, scientific research, and programming tasks. These practical experiences enable students to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world IT challenges.

Laptop Requirements
As part of your acceptance into the Information Technology program at Fisher College, please note that you will need a laptop that meets the following recommendations:
- Operating System - Windows 11 Pro
- Display - 14” WUXGA (1920x1200) or higher resolution
- Memory - at least 16GB (32GB preferred)
- Hard drive/Storage - 1TB hard drive or higher
- Processor - Intel i7 or AMD Ryzen 7
- Warranty - if possible, look at purchasing a 3 or 4 year warranty from the manufacture
Apple MacBooks are not recommended for this program. Chromebooks are not allowed for this program.

- Analyze a problem, and identify and define the computing requirements appropriate to its solution
- Design, implement and evaluate a computer-based system, process, component, or program to meet desired needs
- Describe professional, ethical, legal, security and social issues and responsibilities
- Analyze the local and global impact of computing on individuals, organizations, and society
- Apply current techniques, skills, and tools necessary for computing practice
- Apply mathematical foundations, algorithmic principles, and computer science theory in the modeling and design of computer-based systems in a way that demonstrates comprehension of the tradeoffs involved in design choices
- Apply design and development principles in the construction of software systems of varying complexity
