Complex Trauma: Assessment & Intervention
Course Details
This course provides the learner with detailed and practical explorations of current best practices in assessment and intervention in working with child, youth and adult complex trauma survivors. The course explores establishing a therapeutic relationship with clients who typically have difficulty with relationships; reviewing formal, standardized assessment instruments as well as informal assessments, interviews and activities; and teaching clients skills to self-regulate as part of Stage 1 of the 3 stage model of intervention in Complex Trauma. These approaches to assessment and building regulating skills/intervention are grounded in a thorough understanding of social neuroscience. The learner will find the course rich in diverse case examples with an emphasis on intersectionality and therapist self-awareness, making our application of assessment and skills more inclusive.
