Introduction to Investigative Skills and Processes

Course Details

This introductory course will equip participants with the basic skills they need to conduct investigations; collect, document, catalogue, and analyze evidence and information; make appropriate case recommendations; organize information in an investigative file; and be prepared to assist the Crown in any subsequent legal proceedings. It examines the role and responsibilities of investigators and takes participants through the various stages of investigative work: from attending the scene and gathering information, to the actual investigation and documentation of findings, and finally to providing testimony at legal proceedings, such as a trial or hearing.
