Introduction to Sexually Motivated Offence Supervision

Course Details

This course offers an overview of sexual offending and introduces probation officers to working with clients convicted of a sexually motivated offence (SMO). Participants will examine definitions of sexual offending in the Criminal Code of Canada and will learn about which clients meet the criteria for SMO supervision in the community. They will learn how to conduct risk-based interviews; the role of different risk assessment tools; the development of behavioural progressions and client self-management plans, and other unique policy and practice considerations.
