Course Details

To be eligible to take this course, participants must be a certified Constable with a municipal, tribal, or transit police agency in BC. They must also be selected by their department to act as a Field Training Officer for the field training component (Block II) of Recruit Training. This course provides police officers who are assigned field training duties with the knowledge and skills required to train a Recruit Constable according to the JIBC Police Academy Recruit Training standards. Participants will practice applying the assessment standards and documentation requirements to a recruit's performance, develop their coaching and mentoring skills, and become familiar with the responsibilities of both recruits and Field Training Officers.
