Police Recruit Training: Block II

Course Details

Police Recruit Block II is a field placement that follows the successful completion of Police Recruit Block I. Police Recruit Block II focuses on assessing recruits while performing basic patrol operational duties. Recruits are placed at a recruits' home department and are trained by a designated Field Training Officer (FTO), who is a regular member of the recruit's police department. The training ranges from 18 to 22 weeks. Block II is divided into two phases. Phase 1 focuses on the recruits demonstrated legal knowledge, officer presence, officer safety and Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) / Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) familiarization. Phase 2 focuses on police recruits meeting patrol core competencies as directed by the Police Sector Council.
