Course Description
Through classroom-based presentation and review, as well as practical skills training, participants will refresh the knowledge and skills learned in their previous FIRE-1404 Basic Safety Training course. There is a continued focus on various methods of fire control and extinguishment during simulated live fire training. By revisiting these skill and knowledge components, students will refresh their skills and have the opportunity to learn new methods of fire control and fire extinguishment. This Basic Safety Training- Refresher course is based on the requirements of Transport Canada TP 4957, Chapter 18, and is in direct compliance with STCW95 Convention, Chapter VI, Section AVl/1. This refresher training is offered in cooperation with BCIT with the JIBC component delivered at the Maple Ridge campus.
Prerequisites
- Take FIRE-1404
Registration Information
Candidates must have STCW - MED Survival Craft (other than Fast Rescue) and a valid seafarer's medical certifying that the candidate is fit without limitations that would affect the safety of the candidate, other participants or the instructors on the course.
