STCW-MED-Basic Safety Training
Course Details
Through classroom-based presentation and practical skills training occurring in a simulated ship environment, participants will gain valuable fire fighting knowledge and skills required for safety at sea aboard ships. The focus with this portion of the training is on fire knowledge, various methods of fire control and fire extinguishment during simulated live fire training. This MED-Basic Safety Training course is based on the requirements of Transport Canada TP 4957, Chapter 10, and is in direct compliance with STCW95 Convention, Regulation Vl/l. This course is delivered at the JIBC Maple Ridge Campus. The training is offered in collaboration with the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), who offers the companion 4-day course at the BCIT Marine campus.
