Program Overview

The Elderly Care Certificate is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to care for the elderly in various settings, including at home, in assisted living facilities, and in nursing homes. Students will learn about the physical, emotional, and social needs of the elderly, how to assist with daily activities, and the importance of maintaining dignity and respect. Through practical activities and real-world examples, participants will be prepared to offer compassionate and effective care to elderly individuals.


Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to provide comprehensive care for elderly individuals, understand their unique needs, communicate effectively, and promote their well-being and dignity.


Career Opportunities

Graduates of the Certificate in Elderly Care program can be employed by government agencies, social service organizations, NGOs, group homes, and other similar institutions. They can work in the following occupations:

Requirements

  • Must be at least 19 years of age
  • Instruction is conducted in English. Students need to demonstrate that prior to enrollment they have the language abilities to successfully complete the program of their choice
  • Language requirement:
    • Evidence of IELTS 5.5 (or equivalent) with no band under 5
    • TOEFL 46-59
    • PTE Academic (Minimum 36 Overall)
    • CLB 6
    • CAEL 40
    • CELPIP 6.5
    • Duolingo 95-100 (englishtest.duolingo.com/applicants)
    • Studied at a regular school where English is the language of instruction (min grade 10)
    • Pass the College’s ESL placement assessment which could include an interview
