Course Overview
This programme has been designed for those seeking a career in the management of creativity, knowledge, innovation, and policy. It also provides a feeder route for those seeking to embark on Doctoral Studies.
Entrepreneurship and innovation are key determinants of organisational performance. As knowledge has become more central to business and organisational performance in the 21st century, catalysing creativity and managing innovation has taken on greater importance.
There is also a need to manage innovation to help resolve major challenges, such as climate change, public health crises, financial inclusion, management of artificial intelligence, technology transfer, and convergence.
Structure
Year 1 - Core
- Innovation, Management and Entrepreneurship - 15 credits This module introduces students to innovation management and entrepreneurship. It focuses on the psychological antecedents and characteristics of entrepreneurship as a creative process that results in new products, new processes, new organisational forms, and new markets.
- Research Methods - 15 credits The aim of this module is to introduce the philosophical, theoretical, and practical bases of conducting academic research.
- International Business Strategy - 15 credits This module provides a framework for analysing decisions made by firms in an international context.
- Project Management (School of Finance and Management) - 15 credits This postgraduate module on Project Management provides students with an in-depth understanding of essential techniques and methodologies utilized in modern project management settings.
- Innovation Systems, Complexity and Policy - 15 credits This module introduces students to the analysis of innovation within the context of systems of innovation.

Year 2 - Year in Industry
- Postgraduate Placement Year - 60 credits The PG Placement module provides students with an opportunity to apply the academic knowledge they have gained in the first taught portion of the degree programme in a practical, professional setting.
Teaching and Learning
Masters programmes (with the exception of 2-year full-time MAs) consist of 180 credits, made up of taught modules of 30 or 15 credits, taught over 10 or 20 weeks, and a dissertation of 60 credits.
Contact Hours
As a rough guide, 1 credit equals approximately 10 hours of work. Most of this will be independent study such as reading and research, preparing coursework, revising for examinations, and so on.
