Skills Bootcamp in Scrum Foundation

Overview

Our Skills Bootcamp in Scrum Foundation equips you with the academic knowledge and practical skills required for your chosen industry, as well as applying your newly acquired skills to construction-related problem-solving. You'll cover the BCS syllabus and be given a strong theoretical foundation to pass the exam.

  • Scrum roles: Product Owner, Scrum Master, and Development Team
  • Scrum ceremonies: Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives
  • Scrum artifacts: Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog, and Increment
  • Planning and estimation techniques in Scrum
  • Tracking and monitoring Scrum progress
  • Understanding the importance of iterative development and continuous feedback
  • Practical use of Scrum in industry-relevant scenarios

Course Structure

Our Skills Bootcamp in Scrum Foundations is structured around the BCS syllabus but brought to life by the trainers.


How Will I Be Taught?

You'll be taught by industry professionals who have 30+ years of project management experience and 150+ contacts with local businesses. You’ll gain firsthand experience of working in the project management field and running a small – medium enterprise (SME).


Assessments and Progress Review

Throughout your Skills Bootcamp journey, your progress will be reviewed in multiple formats which could include verbal and written feedback, peer feedback, mock assessments, and collaborative work.

Eligibility Requirements

You must:


  • Be aged 19+
  • Be living in or near Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire or North Somerset
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK
  • Not have completed a Skills Bootcamp funded by the Department for Education (DfE) in the last 12 months
  • Have the support of your employer to engage in this Skills Bootcamp
  • Agree to provide mandatory personal data and supplementary information on your career outcomes for up to six months following completion of the Skills Bootcamp
  • Have access to a computer and Excel

Required Equipment

Your device can be either a personal Windows device or a work device. If you're using a work device, you'll need full admin rights and enough RAM and memory to support your studies and undertake your exam.


Cost

Thanks to funding from the Department for Education this Skills Bootcamp is significantly subsidized.


If you work for a SME employer - under 250 employees, the cost of this course is only 10% of what it would normally cost at £358.97. If you work for a large employer with over 250 employees, the cost is £1076.90.


Dates and Times

The next course starts:


  • Tuesday 4 November for seven weeks, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 9:30am – 12:00pm

Your BCS EXIN Foundation Certificate in Agile Scrum exam will take place 10 December, 10am – 2pm. You’ll also attend an online industry workshop on the 16 December, 10am – 3pm.


How to Apply

  1. Complete the application form. This will take approximately 20 minutes to complete and must be completed in one sitting. You will need your National Insurance number.
  2. If you meet the criteria for this Skills Bootcamp, a member of our team will have a video call with you to discuss your application further and assess your suitability for the course.
  3. If you are suitable for the course, our team will contact you to offer you a provisional place on the course and provide you with the enrolment forms that you must fill out.
  4. Your employer will also be contacted to make payment. Payment will need to be made via invoice.
  5. Once you’ve successfully completed the enrolment forms and we have received payment from your employer, your place on the course will be confirmed.

After completing your Skills Bootcamp you’ll be invited to a Skills Bootcamps alumni LinkedIn group in which you can stay in touch with fellow learners, network and celebrate your career progression.


You’ll also be sent a monthly newsletter with top tips for career success and details of the latest networking events.


Skills Bootcamp Outcomes

As our Skills Bootcamps are fully funded by the Department for Education, there is an expectation that you'll keep in touch with us to let us know about any career progression opportunities you receive after completing the short course.


As your participation in this Skills Bootcamp is co-funded by your employer, your employer will be provided with a short declaration form to confirm details of your career progression. This could be new responsibilities or a new role with your employer.


British Computer Society Accreditation

Our Skills Bootcamp in Scrum Foundation is accredited with the British Computing Society (BCS). The accreditation allows students to undertake the BCS EXIN Foundation certification in Agile Scrum. These accreditations ensure our teaching, content, and outcomes support the current and future priorities of the technology industry. During your course you'll be able to undertake this qualification and receive a certificate on successful completion.
