Photo Etching

Short course


Overview

Location: Locksbrook Campus, Bath, BA1 3EL.


Dates and times: The next course takes place Friday 20 June, 9:30am – 4:30pm.


Cost: This short course costs £95 per person.


Course Description

Learn about the history of Photogravure and transform your digital photographs into Polymer Gravure prints. You’ll use Photoshop to edit your photos before printing them onto acetate and transferring onto photo plates. You’ll learn how to develop these plates and use the etching press to create your own prints, exploring the digital to analogue process of Photogravure.


By the end of the course, you will have created at least one A5 Polymer Gravure print of your work.


What to Bring

  • 3 or 4 possible photographs on a memory stick.
  • Old clothes, as the course may get messy.
  • All materials, including aprons and gloves, will be provided.

Meet the Team

Penny Grist is a Printmaker who studied at Bath Academy of Art and The Central School of Art and Design. She is a Teaching Fellow at Bath School of Art and Design.


She works with all aspects of printmaking and also runs workshops for museums, galleries, schools, and festivals.
