Program Overview


MSc Strength and Conditioning with Rehabilitation

Course Overview

This hybrid MSc programme combines expert-led theory with hands-on experience, giving students the skills and confidence to work with athletes at any level. With a strong focus on employability, the programme includes a placement module where students gain valuable experience designing and delivering strength and conditioning programmes for athletes.

Course Details

Work Placements

The programme offers a work-based learning module for students employed in a relevant professional sector, and an internship opportunity for full-time students. All students complete a professionally focused extended research project.


Learning and Teaching

Learning and teaching methods include guest lectures, work-based learning, traditional lectures, and hands-on practical sessions. Theoretical content is delivered through pre-recorded lectures and interactive online tasks, allowing students to learn at their own pace and fit their studies around work or other commitments.

  • Fundamental Movements in Strength & Conditioning (15 Credits)
  • Plyometric, Agility, Speed (15 Credits)
  • Assessing Athletic Performance (30 Credits)
  • Optimising Training: Adaptation Mechanisms and Programming (30 Credits)
  • Rehabilitation in Performance Environments (30 Credits)
  • Professional Project (60 Credits)

Entry Requirements

  • Normally a first or second-class Honours degree
  • If English is not the first language: IELTS 6.0 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in writing or equivalent

Additional Costs

As one of our students, all teaching and assessments are included in tuition fees, including lectures, guest lectures, tutorials, seminars, laboratory sessions, and specialist teaching facilities. Fees also include access to journals and key texts in the library, software licenses, and access to the virtual learning environment.

Career Prospects

This Master's level degree will enable graduates to gain employment in a number of different areas related to sports performance or rehabilitation. Graduates can pursue roles such as Strength and Conditioning Coach, Sports Therapist, Sports or Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist (with additional qualifications), Sport Scientist, or Personal Trainer.
