Overview
The PGCert SpLD (Dyslexia) with AMBDA/ATS is a postgraduate certificate program that enables students to develop the expertise to enhance provision in educational settings for learners with specific learning difficulties, dyslexia. The program is accredited by the British Dyslexia Association.

How You'll Study
- Eight face-to-face teaching days and four online teaching days during the program
- Evaluated specialist teaching, including at least 20 hours of teaching with pupils
- Diagnostic assessments with pupils
How You'll Be Assessed
- Modules are assessed using case studies, diagnostic assessment reports, specialist teaching evaluations, annotated lesson plans, and observations of teaching practice
- Assessments and activities on the Specialist Dyslexia Training program give students the opportunity to analyze current practice, utilizing and reflecting upon current research and debate to bring about change with clear impact
Who Will Be Teaching You
- Experienced and knowledgeable tutors, supplemented by face-to-face and blended learning opportunities
- All teaching observations will be carried out by tutors who hold Associate Membership of the British Dyslexia Association (AMBDA) status
Entry Criteria
- Relevant degree (or equivalent)
- Written statement from head teacher/manager supporting suitability as a specialist teacher and confirming DBS clearance

- Applications for module 2 running in May 2025 are open until April 2025 for students requesting to complete Recognized Prior Learning

Finance
- Tuition fees for 2024/25: £2,370 (Year 1), £620 (Year 2)
- Tuition fees for 2025/26: £2,440 (Year 1), £640 (Year 2)
- Estimated cost for Dyslexia PG certificate assessment materials: £1,650
- Students are responsible for sourcing and purchasing their own diagnostic assessments
Your Future Career
- The program has been designed to equip students with the professional attributes, skills, knowledge, attitudes, and confidence necessary to act as a specialist teacher for dyslexia
- Specialist teachers can make access arrangements for examinations and diagnostic screenings for dyslexia in both their own workplace and other Local Authority settings
