This course will promote understanding essential to accelerate climate action in the tourism and events sector. We will equip you with the knowledge, skills, and practical responses to help mitigate the risks of ecological and social disruptions, and to share your learning when entering employment.

  • Research Consultancy Project (40 credits) – Enables you to embark on an extended period of detailed and individual study on a tourism or events topic with the guidance of a supervisor.
  • Event Experience Design (20 credits) – Provides you with the skills and knowledge needed to create memorable experiences that captivate audiences and achieve sustainable organizational goals.
  • Leadership for Event Professionals (20 credits) – Aims to equip you with a deep understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and skills required to be a successful event leader.
  • Rethinking Events (20 credits) – Introduces you to the latest ideas about the 'power' of events, and the ways events can be used to achieve wider personal, community, and societal objectives.

  • Live Event Project Management (20 credits) – Considers how the staging of an event can achieve a range of business objectives, develops the problem-solving, critical thinking, and practical skills you need to work within a team.

  • Crisis Management and Resilience for Tourism and Events (20 credits) – Offers you a comprehensive understanding of crisis management principles and resilience strategies.
  • Designing Event Spaces and Places (20 credits) – Draws on the analysis of events using place-based and urban design perspectives.
  • The Social and Cultural Value of Community Events (20 credits) – Explores how events can build community networks, relationships, and opportunities.
  • Digital Marketing and Innovation (20 credits) – Introduces the contemporary digital marketing environment.

Entry Requirements

  • A minimum of a lower second-class honors degree (2:2). Exceptionally, an applicant without these formal qualifications but with considerable work experience in the conference or events industry may be accepted at the discretion of the Course Leader.
  • If your first language is not English, you should have an IELTS 6.5 with a 6.0 in each component.
  • Applicants are required to submit one academic reference.
