Program Overview
European Legal Studies LLB Honours
Overview
The European Legal Studies LLB Honours programme at the University of Westminster is designed to equip students with the core skills to solve legal issues and develop their intercultural awareness and understanding of the different legal systems within Europe. The programme is unique in that it allows students to develop their language skills and includes a compulsory year abroad in Year 3, where students study at one of the university's prestigious partner universities in Europe.
Course Structure
The programme is structured over four years, with the first two years spent studying at the University of Westminster and the third year spent abroad. The final year is spent back at the University of Westminster.
- Year 1: Students study a range of core modules, including Criminal Law, Guided Project, Legal Systems, Cultures and Ideas, Private Law, and Public Law. In addition, students ordinarily study a European language module.
- Year 2: Students study a range of core modules, including Business Law, Civil Law and Legal Systems, Professional Practice: Project, Professional Practice: Skills, and Property Law. In addition, students ordinarily study a European language module.
- Year 3: Students spend the year abroad, studying at one of the university's partner universities in Europe.
- Year 4: Students study a range of core and optional modules, including Professional Legal Research: Advanced Project, Advanced Criminal Law, Advanced Property Law, Clinical Legal Practice: Case Management and Progression, and Clinical Legal Practice: Interviewing and Advising.
