Core Modules

  • Capstone Project: This Capstone Project module within the School of Finance and Accounting PG programme offers you the opportunity to gain research methods knowledge and development skills as well as knowledge of how to undertake a work-based project. (40 credits)
  • Financial Risk Management: This module examines the structure of the financial markets and institutions and examines the different types of risk faced by these organisations and how these are managed. (20 credits)
  • Financial Statement Analysis and Valuation: Financial statements provide the most widely available data on public corporation’s economic performance to investors, debt holders and others. (20 credits)
  • Global Banking and Lending: This module will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the key banking activities and challenges, as well as solutions to those challenges. (20 credits)
  • Global Entrepreneurial Finance: This module is designed to provide students with a robust understanding of some key aspects of entrepreneurial finance in the international (or global) context. (20 credits)
  • International Financial Management: Doing business in the international arena and understanding the complexity of international transactions has many challenging aspects. (20 credits)
  • Wealth Management: This module develops students’ ability to provide advice on financial planning, portfolio management, taxation, pensions and other aggregated financial services for individuals. (20 credits)

  • Banking Technology: This module provides students with a rigorous introduction to the key aspects of FinTech and to understand the transformational impact of this on the global banking sector. (20 credits)
  • Behavioural Finance: This module explores the human and psychological influences on financial decision-making and market behaviour. (20 credits)
  • Compliance and Banking Law: This module offers a detailed examination of the legal principles, regulation, compliance and supervision that applies to domestic and international banks. (20 credits)
  • Financial Modelling: This module provides an overview of econometric modelling and statistical inference, focusing on the development of applications derived from this financial framework. (20 credits)
  • Sustainability in Finance with ESG: This module provides an in-depth exploration of sustainability in finance, with a strong focus on the integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors into financial decision-making processes. (20 credits)

Professional Recognition

The MSc International Finance and Banking programme is accredited by the Chartered Banker Institute (CBI). Graduates of the MSc International Finance and Banking course with the required option module of Compliance and Banking Law will qualify for the Associate Chartered Banker Status.


Entry Requirements

  • UK: A minimum of a lower second class honours degree (2:2). Relevant degree disciplines include finance, economics, business studies or management. Applicants may be accepted based on their professional qualifications or extensive work experience in the global financial services sector. If your first language is not English, you should have an IELTS 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in each component.
