Program Overview
Software Engineering BEng Honours
Overview
Our course examines the best ways to design, build, maintain and evaluate software systems. It uses many of the technical aspects of computer science, especially programming, and aims to develop the professional attitudes, interpersonal and technical skills you’ll need in the software engineering industry.
Course Structure
Learning takes place through a combination of face-to-face teaching and independent study, including lectures, practical tutorials, laboratory sessions, personal development sessions, real-life project briefs and case studies.

Placement Year

Professional Accreditation
This course is CITP (Chartered IT Professional) and partial CEng (Chartered Engineer) accredited by the BCS (British Computer Society).

UK
- A levels – CCC (96 UCAS Tariff points)
- T levels – 96 UCAS Tariff points
- International Baccalaureate – 96 UCAS Tariff points from all components of the Diploma Programme
- BTEC Extended Diploma – MMM
- BTEC Diploma – DD
- Access – 96 UCAS Tariff points from the Access course
In addition to one of the above, you should have:
- GCSE English Language grade 4/C – IB grade 4 Higher level
- GCSE Maths grade 4/C – IB grade 4
International
- International Baccalaureate – 96 UCAS Tariff points from all components of the Diploma Programme
- Other international qualifications – We accept a wide range of international high school level qualifications
- International Foundation courses – We work in partnership with Kaplan International College London who provide the International Foundation Certificate
- International Year One – Kaplan International College London also offer the option to study an International Year One
English Language Requirements
If your first language is not English, you will need an IELTS of 6.0 overall, with 5.5 in each component.
Fees and Funding
UK
- UK tuition fee: £9,535 (Price per academic year)
- Funding – As well as tuition fee loans, there is a range of funding available to help you fund your studies

International
- International tuition fee: £17,600 (Price per academic year)
- EU Qualifications Welcome Award Scheme – If you are an international student accepted on an undergraduate programme starting in September 2024 or September 2025 at level 3 (Foundation) or level 4 (first year) on the basis of an eligible EU qualification only, you will be awarded a tuition fee reduction
