Business and Organisational Psychology MSc

Overview

The Business and Organisational Psychology MSc is a career-focused program that builds your understanding of the conceptual frameworks, grounded in multidisciplinary cutting-edge business psychology theory and research. This program is designed for students without a BPS-accredited undergraduate degree who wish to develop a career in personnel, human resource management, or as a business consultant.


Course Structure

Our problem-based approach to teaching means you’ll be equipped with the thinking and analytical skills necessary to take a confident and proactive approach to your career in business and organisational psychology. Teaching methods will include work-based activities, live briefs from industry partners, intensive workshops, and online learning sessions.


Core Modules

  • Business Research Methods: Develop your knowledge of effective and academic research design at master's level and provide guidance on the purpose and design of literature reviews, strategies of research problem definition, and ethical considerations.
  • Leading and Managing for Diversity: Explore central concepts and psychological processes that help shed light on discrimination and develop insights into the difficulties and benefits of diversity.
  • Business and Organisational Psychology MSc Project: The research project is an intrinsic part of a qualification in business and organisational psychology, and as such, it forms a core module within this program.
  • Positive Psychology and Wellbeing at Work: Explore the issue of positive psychology and wellbeing in the workplace, from both a theoretical and practical perspective.
  • Psychology of Coaching and Mentoring for Professional Development: Develop an awareness of theory and practical application skills of coaching and mentoring to be utilised in various live settings.
  • Strategic Organisational Effectiveness: Explore key strategic change and development elements of business, including change management, organisational values, decision making, negotiation, conflict management, and behavioural change, communication, and influencing.
  • The Psychology of Learning, Training and Development: Examine the various issues and challenges concerning the measurement of human capabilities and characteristics at the level of the individual, the team, and the organisation.
  • The Psychology of Selection and Assessment: Explore the conceptual and theoretical underpinnings of psychological assessment in the workplace.

Course Accreditation

This course is accredited by the Association for Business Psychology. The Psychology of Coaching and Mentoring for Professional Development module is also an approved course with the Institute of Leadership and Management.


Entry Requirements

  • A minimum of a lower second-class honours degree (2:2). Relevant degree disciplines include Psychology, Business, Social Science, or Science. Graduate-level work experience in all areas will be considered.
  • If your first language is not English, you should have an IELTS 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in each component.
