The Danish Beginners course is designed for individuals with little to no prior knowledge of the Danish language. The course is divided into three parts, each building on the previous one, and covers various topics and grammar to help students communicate confidently in Danish.

This course is suitable for individuals who want to learn Danish for personal or professional reasons. It is ideal for those who have no prior knowledge of the language or have studied Danish for about 20-40 hours.


Course Structure

The course consists of three parts, each covering different topics and grammar.


Part One

  • Topics:
    • The Danish alphabet
    • Introducing yourself
    • Numbers from 1-100
    • The calendar
    • Greetings
    • Telling the time
    • Countries, nationalities, and languages
  • Grammar:
    • Simple sentence structures
    • Word order
    • Verbs (infinitive, present, auxiliary)
    • Nouns (gender, singular, plural, definite, indefinite)
    • Personal and interrogative pronouns
    • Cardinal and ordinal numbers
    • Asking and answering questions

Part Two

  • Topics:
    • Talking about your occupation and everyday activities
    • Describing your home and family
    • Asking for and giving directions
    • Responding to everyday situations
    • Modes of transport
    • Planning your diary
  • Grammar:
    • More complex sentence structures (inversion)
    • Prepositions of place and time
    • Verbs (future, imperative)
    • Possessive pronouns

Part Three

  • Topics:
    • Discussing the weather
    • Clothing and appearance
    • Body parts and movement
    • Family life
    • Danish holidays and traditions
    • Food, menus, and food culture
    • Health and well-being
  • Grammar:
    • Verbs (past, present perfect, past perfect)
    • Adjectives (gender, number, irregular)
    • Pronouns: reflexive, relative, indefinite, demonstrative
