Program Overview


Pre-sessional Course for progression to ARU College

Overview

Prepare for academic study at Anglia Ruskin University. Our Pre-Sessional English course for students progressing to a foundation or pathway course at ARU College lasts between six and 20 weeks. By the end of the course you should feel confident communicating in English and ready to start your foundation course. Choose to study on campus or online.

Course Dates and Fees

  • 20 weeks: £7,300 (start date: 31 March 2025, end date: 29 August 2025)
  • 15 weeks: £5,475 (start date: 19 May 2025, end date: 29 August 2025)
  • 12 weeks: £4,380 (start date: 9 June 2025, end date: 29 August 2025)
  • 10 weeks: £3,650 (start date: 23 June 2025, end date: 29 August 2025)
  • 6 weeks: £2,190 (start date: 21 July 2025, end date: 29 August 2025)

Entry Requirements

  • You should be aged 18 or over at the start of this course.
  • Required IELTS scores:
    • 20 weeks: 4.5-5.0
    • 18 weeks: 4.5-5.0
    • 15 weeks: 4.5-6.0
    • 12 weeks: 5.0-6.0
    • 10 weeks: 5.0-6.5
    • 6 weeks: 5.5-6.5
    • 5 weeks: 5.5-6.5

  • Online Pre-Sessional course:
    • Extended academic essay (20%)
    • Annotated bibliography (10%)
    • Spoken interview (20%)
    • Formal presentation including questions (20%)

Additional Notes

  • Our published entry requirements are a guide only and based on a minimum entry. Your Pre-sessional offer will be based on the academic course you have applied for and individual scores of your English qualification.
  • For international students taking our online Pre-Sessional course we now accept a variety of English language tests as well as the Secure English Language Test (SELT)s that would be needed for visa purposes.
  • If you are from the EU other English tests may also be accepted.
