Overview

The Construction Quantity Surveying Technician apprenticeship is a two-year program designed to support new starters in the quantity surveying profession or junior members of the surveying team. The program aims to develop skills, knowledge, and understanding of cost management within the construction industry.

Course Accreditations

The program is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and leads to a Level 4 qualification in Construction and Built Environment and Technician status of the Chartered Institute of Building – TechCIOB.

• Course Delivery: Delivered over two years, the program blends theoretical knowledge with applied professional skills and competencies.
• How Does an Apprenticeship Work?: The apprenticeship route enables students to work and study for their qualification. The employer and/or government pay tuition fees.

Teaching and Learning

Requirements

• Applicant Profile: Passion for the built environment and a desire to gain an understanding of how projects are procured, built, and delivered
• English Language Requirements: IELTS score of 6.0 (no element below 5.5)
• Employment Requirements: Currently in full-time employment (minimum 30 hours a week), spending at least 50% of time in England
• Delivery: Part-time, day release basis over a two-year period
• Application Deadline: July 2025 for September 2025 intake

Standard Entry Requirements

• GCSE: English Language and Mathematics at grade C/level 4 or above
• UCAS Tariff Points: 72 points
• BTEC National Diploma: National Diploma MPP

Alternative Entry Requirements

• Salford Alternative Entry Scheme (SAES): For students who may not meet the stated entry criteria

Fees

• Apprenticeship Funding: Covered by employer and/or government
• Additional Costs: Books, stationery, printing, binding, and general subsistence on trips and visits
