Overview
The CertHE Construction Project Management course covers the essential practical and technical processes involved in Construction Project Management. It provides students with a good understanding of the role of the construction management professional and the varied tasks associated with the role, as well as offering an underpinning to the professional management side of a construction project.

It provides students with a good understanding of the role of the construction management professional and the varied tasks associated with the role, as well as offering an underpinning to the professional management side of a construction project.

- Develop specific skills and expertise relating to the controlling and managing the costs of construction projects

Course Structure
Year One
- Introduction to Law and Regulatory Frameworks: English law and relevant statutory requirements for studying for vocational qualifications in the construction and property professions.
- Technology 1: Building construction techniques and materials used in typical low-rise, domestic type buildings, with a focus on contemporary construction techniques.
- Site Supervision and Operational Management: Skills required to successfully manage a construction site, including defect identification and notification, regulatory areas such as Health and Safety, people and performance management skills, quality monitoring and control, site meetings and contractor and sub-contractor relations.
- Introduction to Construction Management: Relevant management and planning software tools, including Microsoft Project, Building Information Modelling and appropriate design delivery software CAD.
- Economics and Management: Basic economic concepts and principles of the economic environment in which the construction and property industry operates, and knowledge of management theories in the construction context.
- Construction Management Project 1: Discipline specific knowledge and practice to solve discipline related project tasks on an individual and team basis, and experience applicable ICT technologies relevant to their field of study.
Teaching and Assessment
- Teaching: Combination of lectures, seminars and tutorials.
- Assessment: Written examinations and a range of coursework assessments such as essays, reports, portfolios, performance, presentations and your final year major project.

Requirements
- Applicant Profile: Passion for the Built Environment and a desire to gain an understanding of how projects are procured, built and delivered.
- English Language Requirements: IELTS score of 6.0 with no element below 5.5, or a range of other English language qualifications.
- Standard Entry Requirements: GCSE English Language and Mathematics at grade C/level 4 or above, and 104 UCAS points.
- Alternative Entry Requirements: Salford Alternative Entry Scheme (SAES) for students who may not meet the stated entry criteria.
