Population Health

Overview

This PgCert comprises of two modules at level 7: Principles of Public Health and Applied Public Health. It will facilitate health and social care professionals’ opportunities to develop a specific area of understanding in relation to population health.


Introduction

Population health is an approach aimed at improving the health of an entire population and reducing health inequalities, by applying effective interventions throughout the delivery of health and associated care. It is about optimally using the resources we have to improve the physical, mental, and social wellbeing of the whole population.

  • Evidence-based scenario & recommendations (50%, 1,500 words)
  • Portfolio of reflective pieces (50%, 9 reflective pieces)

Applied Public Health Module

  • Project report (50%, 2,000-3,000 words)
  • Online presentation (50%, 10 minutes)

Requirements

Applicant Profile

  • Relevant degree at level 2.2 or above within a health and social care topic
  • Working in an appropriate practice-based role in health and social care, public sector, or public health-related role

Standard Entry Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree: Relevant degree at level 2.2 or above within health and social care
  • English language requirements: IELTS 7.0 with no element below 6.5
