Overview

Are you aspiring to be a manager of the future? Are you passionate about business? This course aims to develop independent-thinking professionals who can meet the demands of business employers and adapt to a constantly changing world. The HND in Business Management is a recognised qualification for anyone wanting a career in business or wider business services across a range of sectors and can also be used as a stepping stone to higher level degree studies.

Entry Requirements

Essential requirements

• 64 UCAS Tariff points.
• GCSE and other level 2 requirements: This course does not require evidence of GCSE qualifications.
• A Level, BTEC and other level 3 requirements:
  • A Level / AS Level: 64 UCAS Tariff points / CC (or equivalent)
  • AS Level: Must be in a different subject to A Levels
  • A maximum of three subjects will be considered
  • Excluded subjects: General Studies; Critical Thinking
  • Pearson BTEC (Diploma / Extended Diploma/ Extended Certificate): 64 UCAS Tariff points
  • Diploma accepted with one A Level or equivalent level 3 qualifications
  • Extended Certificate accepted with two A Levels or equivalent level 3 qualifications
  • Access to HE Diploma: Pass with 60 credits, 45 credits at level 3
  • OCR Cambridge Technical qualifications: 64 UCAS Tariff points
  • NCFE CACHE Level 3 qualifications: 64 UCAS Tariff points
  • WJEC Level 3 qualifications: 64 UCAS Tariff points
  • Considered with two A Levels or equivalent level 3 qualification(s)
  • Irish Leaving Certificate (Highers): Minimum of 64 UCAS Tariff points, achieved in five Higher level subjects
  • Scottish Higher / Advanced Higher: 64 UCAS Tariff points from three Advanced Highers (CCD) or two Advanced Highers (CD) plus two Highers (CC)

International qualifications

• International Baccalaureate Diploma: Obtain a minimum of 24 points overall.
• EU / International students: Please see your country page for further details on the equivalent qualifications we accept. In addition to the academic entry requirements listed above, international and EU students will also require IELTS 6.0 overall with no less than 5.5 in each band.

UK students

• Annual and modular tuition fees shown are applicable to the first year of study.
• The University reserves the right to increase fees for subsequent years of study in line with increases in inflation (capped at 5%) or to reflect changes in Government funding policies or changes agreed by Parliament.

First Year

• In order to complete this course you must successfully complete all the following CORE modules (totalling 90 credits):
  • Business and the Business Environment 15 credits
  • Marketing Processes and Planning 15 credits
  • Human Resource Management 15 credits
  • Leadership and Management 15 credits
  • Accounting Principles 15 credits
  • Managing a Successful Business Project (Pearson Set) 15 credits
• In order to complete this course you must successfully complete at least 30 credits from the following indicative list of OPTIONAL modules:
  • Business Data and Numerical Skills 15 credits
  • Digital Business in Practice 15 credits
  • Operations Management 15 credits
  • Professional Identity and Practice 15 credits

Second Year

• In order to complete this course you must successfully complete all the following CORE modules (totalling 90 credits):
  • Managing a Successful Business Project (Pearson Set) 15 credits
  • Organisational Behaviour 15 credits
  • Understanding and Leading Change 15 credits
  • Global Business Environment 15 credits
  • Principles of Operations Management 15 credits
• In order to complete this course a you must successfully complete at least 30 credits from the following indicative list of OPTIONAL modules:
  • Business Strategy 15 credits
  • Developing Individuals, Teams and Organisations 15 credits
  • Digital Marketing 15 credits
  • Financial Reporting 15 credits
