MA Film and Screen Production

Overview

The MA Film and Screen Production is designed to prepare students for a wide range of roles in the film and screen production industries. The program focuses on developing practical skills in film-making, scriptwriting, and research, as well as providing a theoretical understanding of the industry.


Course Structure

The program consists of three stages:


  1. Postgraduate Certificate (60 credits)
  2. Postgraduate Diploma (120 credits)
  3. MA (180 credits)

Postgraduate Diploma

  • Research by Practice (60 credits)

MA

  • Choose one module:
    • Creative Project in Film or Documentary (60 credits)

Entry Requirements

  • UK and EU students: normally an appropriate Film/Writing or other first degree (Minimum 2:2 or above), or a professional qualification of equal standing, or significant practical or professional experience
  • International students: qualifications and experience equivalent to those required for UK students, plus an IELTS score of 6.0 (with 5.5 in each skills area)

Fees and Funding

  • UK full-time: £9,720 for the full course (2025/26)
  • International full-time: £16,900 for the full course (2025/26)
  • Part-time fees: not available
  • Additional costs: printing research material, exhibitions, screenings, performances, and festivals
