Overview

The Environmental Health MSc course is designed to provide students with the knowledge, expertise, and skills needed to take on and enhance their role as a professional in the field of environmental health. The course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) and is the only online MSc course accredited by the CIEH.

Course Description

The course addresses the need for environmental health professionals who can understand and evaluate the risks posed by environmental health stressors. It encompasses the wider areas of public health, food safety, occupational safety in the workplace and residential environment, and environmental protection.

What You Will Study

• Six core 20 credit modules
• An independent study project worth 60 credits
• Modules include:
  • Pollution Assessment and Remediation
  • Professional Issues in Environmental Health
  • Public Health: UK and International Perspectives

• Modules will be delivered by a professional team of experienced practitioners
• Delivered entirely online through the University's student portal dashboard and digital learning environment
• Interactive materials, live-classroom sessions, word documents, and power point presentations with voiceovers
• Tutor support will be provided through the discussion forum, e-mail, and personal tutoring as appropriate

Assessment Method

• 100% coursework

• Case studies to enable students to build the skills and knowledge needed to draw upon in professional practice

• Careers aimed at protecting the public and the environment cover a wide range of disciplines
• Environmental Health Practitioners can be found working in local government or within a chosen discipline working with the private sector
• Opportunities to work in public health, with the Environment Agency, and in the Health Protection Agency

Entry Requirements

• UK undergraduate degree (at least a 2:2) with honours in a pure applied science (or combination) of a UK university, the CNAA, or an overseas equivalent
• Qualifications and experience considered to be equivalent to the above
• English language qualification (if English is not the first language)
